Since you mentioned a tenor sax doing the melody, it could be the "Always
There" recorded by Ronnie Laws (brother of flutist Hubert and vocalist
Debra) from his "Pressure Sensitive" album... just before his landmark
"Friends and Strangers" album. A Blue Note album from the late 70's.

Of course, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. :)
