some credit bo diddley with the first rap record: "say man", 1959.

obAJ: incognito in san francisco tonight was good...a very full sound is
the best description. a bit too reliant on the keyboards for it, but it
was all played live. the rhythm section hinges on the bass player (who's
been listening to some les claypool recently) that pretty much tore it up
to kick off the encore, which was, of course, 'always there'. the show
probably could have been a little shorter, as they were doing great with
the variety until about four songs before the end, three of which may as
well have been one. but no problem, they brought it around in the end.

the featured singers were good overall, but the two joy's really stood
out, especially joy rose. she used to sing with a uk soul group called
"perceptions"...anybody have any info? a discog?

the crowd was mellow, the djs covered a good selection before the band,
and incognito got into some of their earlier (81) jazz funk.

a good show, but tomorrow, the main event...

keep the faith,
