---I read these liner notes before and think the above excerpt is total shit.
As if the greatness of these artists' music has anything to do with wide
acceptance. These cats would be kickin' ass regardless of acid jazz or not.
This isn't a knock on a-jazz, I myself am a big fan of quality material, but I
don't appreciate quotes like this that say to the effect that jazz artists owe
so much to the a-jazz genre (though I feel that, no doubt, the resurgence has
allowed many great re-issues that may have never popped up).
