I agree with Kevin that this stuff has a funky side to it, its fun to listen
to even if its a little cheezy at times. (not entirely unlike Corduroy) Definit
ely relevant IMHO. Other bands you might wanna check out in this Genre (I'm no
expert)would be Combustible Edison, or Love Jones. Combustible Edison is a
unashamed esquivel ripoff, Love Jones just is, well not quite as exciting. Some
one else you might want to check out would be Stereolab, although less loungy,
definitely full of wacky wurlitzer/Moog/Vox organ, and various and sundry
analog organ sounds. less funky, but cool shit.
On another tangent, I picked up a little gem on Vinyl today in thriftland
called "THe Age Of Electronicus" by Dick Hyman. (1969) Has anyone heard it?
it contains music composted almost entirely on a real early Moog synthesizer.
It contains a couple a beatles tunes, a couple of Booker T. &the MG's and my
favorite "Give it up or turn it loose" by The Godfather of Soul himself. even
a Joni Mitchell song thrown in for good measure.
Reading the liner notes, there is a lengthy discourse on the replacement of
regular instrumentation by synthesis. Its cool to see the 1969 perspective on
the "future" of electronic music. If anyone's interested, i'll post it.

thanks for the bandwidth,
