Just bought the "Berkeley Budget Travel Guide: London On the Loose", 'cause
I'll be there in about 3 or 4 weeks. I thought that since 'budget' and my
life are synonymous, it seemed like a good investment.

Now the only thing that was questionable, was the listing of "R&B, Funk,
and Soul' clubs. (Not sure if the Berkley students were down with
Acid-Jazz, and the like when this thing was published..." Ok, os here's
what they listed.

-PIZZA POMODORO: 51 Beauchamp Pl, tel.0171/589-1278, near Knightsbridge
Supposed to be rare-groove oriented, but sort of pricey (???)

-ORANGE- 3 North End Cres, tel 0171/371-4317, near West Kensington Tube
Features funk and folk, and lots of AUssies, and Kiwis apparantly. Again
(???)

- STATION TAVERN- Blues bar. Any acidification going down at this place?
41 Bramley Rd. tel 0171/727-4053 , near Latimer Rd Tube

- SUBTERRANIA- Small, outrageous, and HIP _HOP!! Is it true?
12 Acklam Rd, tel 0181/960-4590, near Ladbroke Grove Tube

-BASS CLEF-Jazz bar with Latin rhythms. (??)Hip, or sterile yuppie-gloss-floss
hang-out?
35 Coronet St. tel 0171/729-2476 (or 2440) near Old St. Walk Tube

-PALOOKAVILLE- Bistro (uh-oh..._ that 'sez it features jazz/fusion/R&B
styles--plus a dance floor. Cutsie yuppie hype, or is it for real?
13A James St, tel 0171/240-5857, near Covent Garden Tube

Should I check these out, or are there other better, underground ones I
should know about? (I suspect that there are...but WHERE?)

Also..have any of you near South Hall heard of 'BHANGRA JUNGLE', or "TAABLA
JUNGLE' genres that are being newly created?

Also...Maceo is playing in Toronto in 2 weeks. 'WOuld appreciate reviews of
his recent shows.

Thanks all.....
