maceo strikes in ottawa

I have much of the same observations about the Ottawa show as did Hiren of
the TO show, including his notice of the number of young white grungers on
hand (there were less black people in the audience than on stage -- of
course, that's about proportionate to the makeup of Ottawa).
Anyway, Maceo and Fred (where's Pee Wee?) and co. rocked the house down
and drew a normally placid Ottawa crowd into a near riotous frenzy.
Highlights were a soopabad "Pass the Peas" and his "Shake Everything You
Got" medley.
Maceo's the consummate showman, a congenial, bigger than life
party-starter who thanks everybody a dozen times -- all with a suit and
tie on. No intermission during the 2.5+ hour show, which easily puts to
shame the efforts of bands featuring punks half Maceo's age.
May the great men continue to blow, Amen.
