Yup. I'm in the minority here, but I do seem to like "Space Cowboy"
better than the first album. Though it's less funky and danceable, the
songwriting is better, the rhythm section is *tighter*, and it's really
less Stevie-Wonder-derived than the first. IMHO, songs like "Half the Man,"
"Stillness in Time," "Mr. Moon" and "Manifest Destiny" don't sound
anything like Stevie Wonder songs (the latter sounds very Level 42ish,
though). Frankly I think this "Stevie ripping-off" business is entirely
prejudicial, and instigated by all the press the Jason Kay got when he first
made it big.

No, I'm not trying to defend Jay Kay, in fact I also do find him annoying.
But give him a break. He's just a kid with a bad childhood that's starved
for attention, that's all. But Jay Kay is *NOT* Jamiroquai; only the most
vocal part of it, pun intended. Jamiroquai to me is the bassist Stu Zender,
keyboardist Toby Smith and the drummer (Derrick). Jay Kay's voice is
really background noise for me.

And frankly, I wouldn't be surprised if Stevie himself enjoys Jamiroquai.
People like Aaron Hall and R. Kelly are far more guilty of ripping off
Stevie's voice than Jay Kay (though they are better singers, though...).

Also, is BNH "Original Flava" worth
getting if one likes the band? > > Special > Announcement

Yes, yes and yes. "Flava" is really a compilation of demos from their
pre-signed days. Real raw. I understand Jan Kincaid arranged like 4
versions of "Never Stop" before the one on the first album was made. Sort of
worth keeping like a "BNH Anthology."
