LA and SD events next week?

I just found out that my company is sending me to their Newport Beach
office next week, so I was wondering if there was any recommendations as
far as gigs/events to check out in L.A. or San Diego...also if anyone out
there wants to hook up just to meet, I'd be into that too...and the longest
of all longshots...anyone need a guest DJ from NYC??? Please reply
privately as I don't know how much list mail I'll be reading in my frenzy
to prepare for my trip....
