I would tell you that music is the expression of emotion
And that politics is merely the decoy of perception.
The Disposable Heroes of Hiphoprisy

After all these years, people are still quoting Michael. Music and Politics
turned out to be not so disposable after all. In fact I think this is the
third post on the list I have seen quoting Music and Politics...the last one
being from down under. For all his posing, the man is definitely lyrical.
Even the much more lighthearted "Love is the Shit That Makes Life Grow"
Spearhead is full of witticisms.

On the subject of the Acid Jazz consensus...does any one know how long it
took to reach a consensus on What Is Jazz? Has the world finished defining
it yet? Here in San Francisco we've broken acid jazz even further...Hip Hop
Jazz, Funk Jazz, Soul Jazz, Jazz Hop Soul, and all kinds of other
amalgamations. I really believe that it's all jazz and it's all good. The
only commonality thta makes it jazz is the element of improvisation...which
is why jazz is so powerful in a live setting. It transcends the players and
the audience.
