Hi all,
I know this isnt aj but there has been talk about this band
on the list! Nightmares On Wax played in Reading last night which was
cool cos its one less band its essential to see at Phoenix. I didnt know
whether to expect a live band or mixing but they did play live - 2
keyboard players, bass guitar and drums by machine; they were
surprisingly good at recreating their sound live, but you wouldnt call it
kicking! Theyre the kind of music I'd normally listen to when I got home
to chill out rather than go out to see. They played most of Smokers
Delight, and one *really* strange song where they all put wigs on - the
black guitar player wearing a white syrup, the white guy wearing an afro
one - and went into this almost Hendrixish thing. Their guitarist, who
was hot on the laid back funky stuff, couldnt really do it so it was a
bit sad. It got better towards the end as they upped the pace, and then
just as they got going, they stopped. A curious but not overly exiting
event.
