A lot of us do, and in fact for many of us, the name "Pizzicato Five" was
first mentioned on this list before anything else. They have many tracks
that definitely sound "acid jazz."

In actuality, P5 is really a very eclectic pop band more than anything else.
Unfortunately, here in America, they are marketed as an "alternative"
band, which is sort of a downer and also (dare I say) 'racist' or at
least culturally insensitive. I mean, just because Shonen Knife gets
classified as an alternative/indie band doesn't give the US record
industry to assume that anything from the land of the rising sun is
"alternative" by their mis-interpreting Japanese artists' take on American
and the English language culture as "cute" or "kitschy." Cibo Matto has
suffered a similar consequence.

But come to think of it, when stacked up against all the other so-called
"alternative" junk out there, maybe Pizzicato Five really *is*
alternative, in the true sense...
