New Me'shell LP (and other stuff...)

Oh yeah,

I don't know if you're all aware of this, but Me'shell's next LP is
apparently due to drop on 25th of June. It's called "Peace Beyond
Passion", and I've heard there's a 4-track promo EP around too. If any
kind soul out there wants to send me a copy I'd be more than grateful
:-)

Other stuff...
The "Music Box" drum & bass compilation (assembled by Roni Size) is well
worth having. There are some really nice jazzy things on here, but it's
much more upfront than the kind of stuff on the LTJ Bukem "Logical
Progression" comp, which I found a bit too washed out for my tastes.

Maxwell's Urban Hang Suite - my soulhead friend Matt recommended this
one, and as usual he's not wrong. As chilled out as a very chilled out
thing, though it has to be said the best songs are concentrated in the
first half of the album.

Groove Collective - "We The People". This is the closest thing to an
"acid-jazz" LP I've bought in ages, and is a real grower. I bought this
on the strength of the madly funky "Bari Constrictor" instrumental, but
I think the high point is probably the two-track homage to Herbie in the
middle of the LP.

Coming up next - "In Order To Dance - vol 1: drum & bass" on R & S. This
is the label that brought us Jacob's Optical Stairway, so I'm looking
forward to this...
