I cought Red Snapper live in Stockholm yesterday. I think this was the
begining of their european tour - they were heading for Denmark next.
The next London gig is 29 Sept at Subterrania. For more information

Ok, now for the gig:
They started off with the very strong "Crusoe takes a trip" and really
knocked everybody out with their very inpressive sound. They must have
done some serious sound checking because the sound was exceptionally
good!
The band is four guys, Ali Friend on Double Bass standing in the
middle, David Ayers on guitar to the left, Richard Thair on drums on
the right side and Ollie Moore in the back on sax/melodica.

We all were very surprised by the sound - it was just so phat and
groovy! They ran the double bass and drums through some weird filters
and the sound changed from song to song. It was simply impossible to
stand still to the groove of the double bass. I must say I never
thought a double bass could be made sound so cool. Also, Ayers on
guitars made some nice laid-back sounds in the background, but towards
the end of the show he was more like someone from the Cure or Curve
with his sounds. Extremely metal... :-)
They did maybe half of the songs of the new album "Prince Blimey" and
two or three songs from the earlier EP. In my mind the EP is a bit
experimental, and way too advanced for my taste. However, the new
album is absolutely brilliant and an must if you are into this
instrumental mix of trip, beats, groove and jazz...

This was *by far* the best concert this year.
