This is my 4th or 5th e-mail change, actually this was my
back-up account that I'd use if I ever decided to leave AOL.

Anyhow, how is life on the list? I've been back for a bout
3 days trying to get a pulse on the list and I've mostly
read about how large the list is getting and that
DJ/Producer extraordinaire Peenutbutta Wolf (whose stuff I
really like).

I'm still doing my DJ thing at Bar 6 on Wednesdays, and
Sundays with Wednesday emphasizing 'acid jazz.'
Bar 6 really has an outstanding DJ line-up from Wednesday to
Sunday. On Thursday nights, DJ Steve (a San Francisco)
import gives you that West Coast Jazz (A-J, Trip, HipHop).
Friday nights feature DJ Lion who is all over the place but
centers around Drum&Bass, Reggae, and Hip Hop. And,
Saturday's bring you the man DJ Swingsett who takes you
around the world and back by spinning every style of music
from every crevice on earth. Qool Marv trys to be like
Lion, Steve, and Swingsett on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I guess the most exciting thing that I have coming up is on
November 11th, at Tramps (21st&6th/NYC), I'm the warm-up DJ
for The Roots and Jeru Tha Damaja. I may be able to get a
couple of New York listers in but don't be mad at me if I
can't.

Other than that, I'm just chillin listening to Grover
Washington Jr.'s Motown Anthology of his 70's stuff...very
Roy Ayers-like, especially disc #2. What else, I'm digging
the single "On and On" by Erykah Badu, who sounds like a
reincarnated Billie Holiday...I shivered the first time I
heard this 25 year-olds voice...vintage. I met her too
she'd a lovely spirit. I hope that her producers can
reflect her aura and her voice.

Of course I'm feeling the Roots, as a Philly native, how
could I not?

Recently got Steely Dan's box set and I throw all 4 disc
into the machine and hit shuffle cause damn near every song
grooves. Also been checking out Motown's 'white soul band'
Rare Earth...I think Mother Earth are descendants of Rare
Earth.
The new Jamiroquai tells me more and more that they listen
to a lot of Stevie Wonder a la "Songs In The Key of Life,"
"Music of My Mind," and "Innervisions" for
inspiration...that same spirt and soul that the 'deep'
Stevie had comes out so clearly through Jamiroquai IMHO.

Nice talking to you all again...I'm still doing the tape
thing but will not be soliciting the list as I owe eveyone
on the list at least one tape...it's coming...really it is,
I still have people's addresses from the last time. Just
think of it as a suprise when it finally comes. Qool Marv
