Carlos,
I've heard the two singles that have been released, and read a good
interview with the group about it in CMJ back in July. It's definitely
more jeep-beat and less jazzy than Buhloone Mind-State or ...Is Dead.
But still good stuff. To quote Elliott Wilson's article, "Stakes Is
High...strikes a perfect balance, appealing both to the young bucks who
bob their heads to creepy Mobb Deep tracks and to the college-educated,
20-something rap-heads who are as disgusted with rap's current state as
the noble trio."

To relate this to the list, something about the title track really
reminded of one of the tracks on DJ Krush's Meiso...using the same
sample or something... Also, I've always considered De La Soul to be
pioneers in the rap community to blend jazz and hip-hop and to bring
that sound to the masses. Although apparently B-Mind State didn't sell
well at all, I thought it was really well done with the Japanese hip-hop
connection and the JB Horns...
