As far as house is concerned, i think the ideal tempo is 128 for djs
as well as for dancefloors. I have so much great house at < 122 bpm
that I never get to play just because it's hard to get down there
in a house set and playing it at +8 just won't sound as good.

Now since this is the acid-jazz list and I am myself planning to
release something sometimes next year, I'd like to hear about
people's taste in the downtempo range. My personal favorite is
the 95 to 105 bpm range, but I'm also considering something around
80 bpm that would mix good with some jungle (which I don't spin
but it seems to be the trend these days :)

Also, I would love to hear good recommendations for 'transition'
tracks. I mean tracks that will start downtempo and finish house,
or vice-versa, or tracks that start at a 80bpm dub tempo and finish
at a nice 100 bpm mid-tempo, etc... good such tracks are very hard
to find but are so usefull to djs who don't always have time to
bring the speed up or down gradually. One that I use very often after
a downtempo set, especially if I'm opening for a house dj, is a
track from the La Yellow 357 triple-pack, don't remember the name
but it starts at a cozy 100 bpms and ends up at a housy 120 bpms,
throwind people on the dancefloor.
