No offence Gilbert...but what you said seems (atleast to me) to be a bit
ignorant.
If you reasiously dont like ANY recent US hiphop releases i think you've
been looking in the wrong places... if you search hard enough youll
discover that theres hella good and innovative hiphop still being made.
The last year or so the following have really blown my mind:

***Latyrx - "the album" (solesides)
Lateef and Lyrics Born compliments eachother srhymes perfectly. This is
the kind of shit you could hear from mc-duos up until the early to mid
90's... Unfortunately alot of the material on the album had been
previously released as 12"s.

***Siah & Yeshua Dapo Ed - 6 song EP (Fondle'Em)
Just as the NYC hiphop scene is starting to REALLY look silly these two
kids comes with this DOPE EP. Their flow isnt as good as for example
Latyrx, but the lyrics are nice and the two mc's fits perfect together.
Mostly jazzy beats. It was followed by a solo 12" from Siah which quite
frankly didnt do much for me, Yeshua is schedueled to release a solo
joint in not so long, hopefully that will be better.

***Everything from The Living Legends! (eligh, aesop, murs, the grouch,
mystik journeymen)
The bay area crew The Living Legends have several incredible tapes and
albums out... most notable is The Grouch's "success is destiny".

***Latyrx - "the muzappers mixes" (solesides)
This EP got several versions of muzappers/lady dont tek no + the
non-album cut Cloud #9. Just as good as the album.

***Aceyalone - "faces/the guidelines 94/fortitude" (project blowed)
This is probably my fave 12" of the year. Acey's beutifull flow combined
with nice beats and REALLY good lyrics makes it a classic.

Other notable releases:
***Swollen Members - "shatterproof" 12" (battleaxe)
feat. Mixmaster Mike, Aceyalone and Tony Da Skitzo

***X-Men - "music negra" 12" (asphodel)
not really DJ tracks, more like regular hiphop with alot of scratching

***the invisibl skratch piklz vs the klamz uv deth (asphodel)
i dont need to comment on this, do i?

***Animal Pharm - "the vaccine" (goodvibe)
very VERY nice westcoast independent hiphop

***Dj Krush - "Milight" (mo'wax)
not even close to being as good as his earlier releases but still better
than most of the bullshit out there.

+ everything released on the british labels Big Dada and Jazz Fudge,
Aloe Blacc, Mountain Brothers, CVE/HipHop Klan, the Rebel Alliance
compilation (alot of dope Boston crews), 7L & Esoteric, Live Poets,
Sacred Hoop, Natural Resource, The Return Of The Dj II from Bomb hiphop
records, Deep Concentration from OM, the Industry Records compilation,
Project Blowed + + + ..

i could go on and on about all the good hiphop that is still being made
by people dedicated to bring hiphop to its next leven and NOT hung up on
Hype Williams videos, MTV, Christal, Vercage and whatever....

Next year will probably be even better with upcoming releases from Live
Poets, Freestyle Fellowship, Haiku De Tut etc. :)))
