Rue's Records- between Market and Chestnut on 3rd. Must visit for used
vinyl. Jazz, Funk, Soul, etc.
3rd Street Jazz and Rock- 1/2 block north of Market on 3rd. Some acid
jazz/trip hop. Massive amounts of jazz, funk and soul CDs. small
sometimes good vinyl section.
Armand's Records- 11th one block north of Market. THE place for hip hop
in center city. some rare groove and acid jazz.
Silk City's groove lounge Wednesdays is the shit. Thrown by Cozmic Cat
it's the closest thing to Giant Step in Philly. That whole live jazzy
improv with the DJ vibe. They just redid the club and it is fat! Also my
boy Koji spins there on certain nights and his style and the stuff he
throws down is untouchable...
Crasta throws a night called Nebulae at Club 1415 every Friday night.
Trip hop upstairs, jungle and techno on other floors.
5 Spot has the jazzy latin vibe going but i'm not diggin' the dress code
and the yuppie crowd. They get great acts in there though... Greyboy,
JTQ...
CafÈ Limbo on Sundays has an experimental night with a lot of different
electronic based music.

Milktoast will be doing every Thurs. in Jan. at Rex's in West Chester if
you care to venture out there. Me (Argo) and this band Fathead. If you
haven't heard about them, definitley take note because these guys rock.
In that Groove Collective, g-lovey, jazz funk vien but definitely taking
their shit in some wierd directions. Couple white kids that can kick the
fresh freestyles too. upcoming local philly talent...
Also watch out for an upcoming Funk For the Folks at Bob and Barbara's
jazz bar on 15th and South!!!
