Well after all the hype in certain circles regarding their return I HAD to
find out what it was all about. The place was full of what a mate of mine
called "f*&#ing wide-boys" but the atmosphere was still incredible.
Apologies to hard-core fans - I don't know the guys' names but they were
bloody good rappers. They did a tune called Snakes which is in 5/4 and the
rapping was perfect (but you need 2=BD legs to dance to it!). Apparently=
most
of the tunes were from their forthcoming album but they did Cantaloup and a
couple of otherolder numbers too. The band were superb - Dennis Rollins (I
think that's his name) on trombone, Sam (forgotten the surname) on soprano,
alto and tenor sax and Duncan McKay (surname???) on trumpet were all
incredible, likewise the rhythm section (names forgotten). The drumming was
especially exciting as the percussionist and drummer orchestrated their
solos into sort of call and response phrases alternating with completely
synchronised sections (sorry for being such a muso!).

A really great gig - if you get the chance go see 'em!

Yours sincerely,

Simon Brown
