These aren't new mixes but the topic of Luke/WC remixes has come up a few
times recently and I haven't heard anyone mention the ones on this
release: The Real Trip--Further Self Evident Truths. I lucked upon this
one in the used bin a couple months back. It contains the WC track
"Reedin (Re Done)," the WC Electro Mix of RHC's "Feel the Fire," the WC
Me Too Remix of Project One's "Cheeba '95, I Like to Smoke Marijuana" and
the WC Vocal Mix of Ruby's "Paraffin." I like most of the WC remixes on
here, better than their own track (the first one) and especially like the
"Feel the Fire" track. Overall, this is a great comp and it surprises me
that I don't recall anyone discussing it, althought that discussion may
have occurred some time ago, when the plastic was still hot (it's a 95
release on Rising High USA).

I was finally compelled to mention this one because of the above post and
because I just got Ruby's "Salt Peter" recording, hearing her original
version of "Paraffin." (For those of you trying to recall if you've heard
this one, think "old man's ass," running up and down the musical register
on the vowels in a whiny sort of way...clings to memory in a less than
pleasant manner, but great none-the-less.) Anyway, in case of hearing the
remix before hearing the original, the original sounded nice and fresh.
The remix, of course, has that definitive WC trademark sound that
complements Ruby's intriguing voice and these irreverent lyrics.

If you haven't yet, check out this comp. The other tracks are:

Air Liquide "Stratus Static" (more interesting than most of the stuff on
a full-length I got of theirs);
RHC feat. Plavka "Move Ya" (Born Free Dub Mix II);
Bedouin Ascent "Off the Bone";
Ride "Moonlight Medicine" (Portishead's Ride on the Wire Mix)--good
stuff; and
Black Dog "Pillars & Mirrors.

Apologies for discussing "old stuff" or to anyone who has given a better,
more timely review.
