Acid-Jazz needs reform!

Hello all, Q-Burns here-

Defending the Om Records postings is a good reason for me to come out of
lurker mode. The main thing I want out of the acid jazz mailing list is
INFORMATION. Record company postings that reveal information about things
going on in the "acid jazz" world are beneficial to the list, and I bet
you, Matt, are the only one who feels otherwise. I welcome them, along with
other record company postings (pertaining to AJ/downtempoo/soul/ and other
musics covered on this list) as they keep me up to date with what goes on
in the industry and the music that we love. I wish many other record
companies that deal with this music would let us know about their new
releases and such.

You've complained about the 15+ Om Records postings, but I've never seen
you complain about the 1,000+ postings that say "I agree!" or "(insert one
line joke here)" that crowd up the list more than anything. I can't believe
you, Matt, feel that the AJ list needs reform. It is actually one of the
better self-maintained lists I am on. You ought to give the breaks/jungle
list a spin if you want to see a mailing list that often spirals out of
control.

And, if CK's postings make you avoid Om's releases in the future, it's your
loss, not theirs. They put out some mean releases, lemmee tell ya...

Also, CK always puts something pertaining to AJ and not pertaining to Om at
the end of his postings, like his recent top 10 list. That's more than we
can say for Matt, whose long posting gave us no information regarding music
whatsoever.

Enough of that- time to put my money where my mouth is. Here are my latest
recommended tunes:

GERD- new 12"s on Pork and EC Records (in the Netherlands, not the Eno
label). Excellent electronic funky pieces that definitely have that
Pork/Fila flavor.

WALLY SPANGLERS LUNCHBOX - Ultra limited 10" on a Peace Feast affiliated
side label. Look for this... It fuses electronics with jazzy funk in a
brilliant way
.
MAMA OLIVER - SHANTEL REMIXES 12" - on Vienna's Uptight label, Shantel
strikes back with more classy jazzy excellence. US folks can check out
Shantel's CLUB GUERILLA CD, which is being released by Instinct this week.
This is a fantastic and overlooked album originating from Germany.

MOT- Le Fin Du Monde EP 12" - I've been charting this for a while as I've
had an advance copy, but it is now in stores. An amazing electronic
downtempo EP with one fascinating 15+ minute 2 part song that has a
surprise that fans of the movie NAKED will enjoy. On his own Marvin Nash
Records label- you must seek.

Alright, that is all for today, class. My self plug is a part of my
signature below. And, let me just take my BSF cap off to CK Smart, a man
who has contributed more to this list than just about anyone else I can
think of (all of us 2+ year old members will surely agree)... Matt, Peace
and chill, brother...
