Hi there,

Sorry to bug with all and, please, don't get me wrong, but there are
certain things that really displease me. I'm talking about Jason's last
message. Jay B. states:

1) > To list members and others

Who are the others? If you mail something to the AJ list only the AJ
listees are going to receive it and, as far as I can remember, this
project is (for the time being) called The AJ List Compilation Project.
So I repeat my question: who are the others?

2) > so after receiving complaints from people on the list about the
> volume of posts about this subject,

Another thing that intrigues me. I don't recall receiving any mails
regarding this complains. Were they all mailed directly to you?

3) > I decided to help get everybody organized and take it off-line by
> simply aggregating everyone's email addresses and starting a
> distribution list. Now all of a sudden the lack of posts is taken
> as a proxy for lost enthusiasm? That's kinda ridiculous.

No my friend, that's not ridiculous! That's what I call miss
information! I wasn't aware of the existence of this private list. I
knew nothing about the project. As you probably know, I sent to the list
my info. I thought that meant I was interested to be part in this
project. It's true that I'm not a musicien neither I play in a band but
IMHO I think I have lots of things to give to this project. I'm a man of
ideas, I love to work in a group, I know a bit about the music
business, etc, etc, etc. BTW, I began my carrear as a DJ back in 1984, I
became a radio DJ in 1986, and a TV presenter since 1992. I think that
qualifies me as an experienced guy in the music business. So I must ask
why isn't my e-mail address in that restrict list you talk about? Don't
you think I could have something to say? Don't you think I could give
some help? As far as I can remember the only mail I got from you was a
message in which the only thing related with the AJ proj was, and I
quote:

>> We may also need your help (although I don't know what kind) with the
>> comp. in it's later stages

I replied you back saying that:

>> Anything I can do just let me know. I'm with this project 100%. You
>> can always use my contacts among Magazines, News-papers, Radios and
>> TV's.

I think that says it all, but I also wrote:

>>If possible I would love to listen to some of the material that you've
>>been receiving for the AJ list compilation.

Wasn't that clear enough? That meant 'I want to be part of this proj!'.

4) > I have just sent out to all interested parties (except you Kevin,
> you have to see why your email keeps bouncing or send me a new
> address) an address where to send tapes, a plan for voting on
> tracks, and a time frame with which we can reasonably expect to
> receive tracks and vote on them.

If that was the motive for the "Trend mail" sent by Kevin I'm sorry to
say but that's a childish actitude. But, in this matter, I'm still
waiting to hear from Kev. I don't like to judge anyone until I hear what
all the parts have to say.
BTW, at this stage how do you define 'all interested parties'?

5) > Until the tracks are selected, it is kind of pointless to do
> anything else.

Are you sure about this? Don't you thing that by discussing things the
good ideas come out? Don't you thing the other fellow listees could also
participate in this project? BTW, who's going to select the tunes to be
included in the comp? Another BTW with a doubt: Who's gonna pay the
final bill? Isn't that important enough to be discussed?

6) > Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it only worthwile to compile the
> bios the people who actually will be represented on the
> compilation? I sent a little mail to DJ Herb about what preparatory
> work he could do for web site creation, but it's not all that much.

You're not wrong. That's a wonderfull work that must be done. I'm glad
to hear that DJ Herb is also colaborating in the Web site. But, again,
don't you think we all wanted to know about all this moves regarding the
project?

7) > And before we start dreaming of distribution deals etc. we need to
> get the music down in raw form.

Dreaming??? Why dreaming??? This is no dream my friend. The list has
everything: a fantastic group of musiciens, several experienced jocks
and radio DJ's, label guys, etc, etc... So why dreaming? It's only a
matter of knowing how to do things.

8) > So is there really a lack of enthusiasm?

I must apologise since I was responsable for that sentence. I was
probably wrong but due to lack of info. That's what I meant to say (I'm
sorry if my English isn't that brilliant!).

9) > Can we please return to the regularly scheduled programming? None
> of the participants are worried about anything going wrong, and the
> list as a whole should be confident that something (who knows what)
> will definitely come out of the initial flurry of responses to this
> topic.

Yes we can! Since I was worried I think that qualifies me as a
non-participant.

10) > Furthermore, if my say means anything - I would appreciate it if
> we keep the amount of public posts on the topic to a minimum, we

> even send a reply to the list on this topic but after seeing the

OK Jay B. Since you're the guy who's calling the shots your wish is my
command. So I swear to you I'll never post anything more regarding this
issue. This was my longest and last mail on the subject. Why should I
bother? If I say I'm worried you get upset. I don't want to upset nobody
and besides, I have my own compilation project to worry about. So far I
managed to get a label/ distributor willing to release it, I got 7 bands
ready to be in it, I'm negotiating with Hotels, travelling agents,
clubs, etc, so I can bring the bands for a two nights gig in Portugal...
And then I have my show, interviews, CD presentation going on. As you
can see I have a lot going on but so far I've been able to manage the
time for everything (even to be with my girlfriend!).
I will be very happy if I the AJ List Comp. at the retaileres' shelves
so I can buy a copy and play it at radio Nova. That's because:

a) I love good music;
B) I'd love to see some superb projects like Jibe, Rojo Amor,
ViperHouse, West Coast Harem, Q-Burn, Oversoul 7, ... (sorry if I
forgot anyone) getting the chance they deserve.

So, go ahead and good luck to you. That's my sincere wish.

11) Reply to: Put the Trend to an End

Sorry Jay B. That's not a project coordinator behavior. A coordinator
should be able to do a lot of things and most os all he must know how to
deal with criticism. My opinions weren't destructive. My only goal was
to collaborate. I just wanted to know what was going on. Pardon me for
being concerned! Sorry if I care and want to see things done!
