Last monday, I visited the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland. I
had tickets for the Herbie Hancock and All-Stars concert and it
rocked! Well, actually my brain was really confused after the concert,
those guys definitely play some complex jazz.

After the concert we went to the Jazz Cafe where a 'Talkin Loud' Night
was happening. Lineup: Gilles Peterson, Headstrong, and UFO.

I was too late for Gilles Peterson and I only saw the last 30 Minutes
of the Headstrong Concert which was really good. But wait a minute -
the leadsinger was in fact Rob (I think that's his name) from
Galliano, at least two other members where also playing/singing. The
style the've played was really close to Galliano. Did I miss
something? Is this somekind of side project?

Next was UFO which I really like a lot! I've never seen em before
playing life and I was wondering how they're actually DOING it!

Well - they don't. It was a mess. 2 turntables, a mixer and a mic?
that's all? not even a mere sampler?

And the performance? Just playing some tunes without mixing and
humming into the mic isn't really inspiring. Besides - it was too
loud, they oversteered (is that the right word?) the speaker, the
needle was skipping and the music they played was nothing special. It
began with 2 or 3 tracks from '3rd perspective', switching to some old
Jazz Funk, then suddenly to some kind of house and ended up in jungle.
all this in about 3/4 hours... and none of it really danceable.

i hope this isn't the real UFO, perhaps they were just pissed off
because they had to play about 2 hours later than announced.
