Dear List:
Yves is probably right. Do you happen to have the track list for vol
4-5. Where did you get the originals anyway? Who is Pure records they
seemed to be french or at least Quebecois . What do you know about "
Some other kind of Meat?" I hope
I do not detect a note of " you idiot of course'in your reply, I have
only been in the beat collecting game for three years. Its easy to read
up on the big guys but the real gems are the stuff by people who heard
James Brown ,etc and tried to imitate it . the result is obscure but
possibly funky tracks you can use to sample or play to delighted
audiences. An example is "Superpeople" on Funky jams vol1. This guy
did a hell of Curtis Mayfield ripoff that may have inspired Outkast's
"Players ball". Thats why when i see something like the soul
Tornaodes album in the sotre i may be inclined to believed that some
Beatnut compiled an obscure groups rare singles. You gotta admit they
tried hard to make it look old. markeg@hotmail.com
