This is a great album. . . .and it is funny that Colin brought it up.

I was just about to post mail about the Funk Essentials too. Last week
we were on the road listening to this album and we came across the tune
"Brooklyn Recycles" (one of my favorite on the album) and the bone
player of ViperHouse and myself (trumpet) had a disagreement as to who
was taking the solos on the tune.
So I thought I would take the question to the list.

The first solo is a muted horn, the second which overlaps with the first
by a couple of measures or so, is most definitely the trombone (Josh
Roseman). So I say the muted horn is the bone player with a condenser
on it or something, and then they edited the track so that his open (no
mute) solo overlaps with the first. Pretty cool.

Our bone player says the first solo is a trumpet.

So what do y'all think?
