In response to the comment about Shadow and U.N.K.L.E on the Acid Jazz
List: And, Hey - if you like good records.....keep reading.

>Im excited about these, especially Quantum. BUT, does anyone else think
>the journalist might have screwed somthing up in the transcription here?
>Why would DJ shadow release an album called UNKLE? has anyone else >heard
anything?

Quantum is the Solesides "super group" with Lyrics Born, Chief XCel and
Shadow on production and Lyrics Born, Lateef and Gab on vocals - look
towards Lateef in the year....As for U.N.K.L.E., Shadow is the Executive
Producer. U.N.K.L.E. is Lavelle's project.....I haven't heard much
about the single "Berry Meditation", although I think it's totally
fantastic and can't stop listening to it....Anyone else have any
comments?...

A few other blurbs:

Check the Kid Koala 10" on Ninja called "Scratchappyland"- cuts from his
recent incredible mix tape.

Anyone know anything about Buscemi's EP "La Plus Belle Africaine"? on
Downsall Plastics? Very strange and excellent - from drum & bass to
house to down tempo. "l'infernihilist" is one of the best cuts I've
heard in a while - totally smokin, unique drum and bass......a great
record

Filter Records follows up the nice Sunship EP, with the tremendous
Amalgamation of Soundz "Same Difference EP", which I recently played on
Jeff K's show on Groove Radio (wonder if anyone heard that?). The cut
"Tears for Yazd" is the winner! Totally beautiful jazzy drum and bass.
The other three cuts go from down tempo beatz to deep jazzy house.
Check it out...

Other nice bits come from Congo Natty Records and Urban Takeover. Check
into a Live Roots LP out now on bootleg - fucking brilliant, featuring
Malik B, Sadax X, Rhazel the Godfather of Noize and a host of the usual
suspects. All the way live

Cup of Tea Records in Bristol continues to put out some of the best
music around - check the lovely "State of Mind" compilation and the new
LP from Smith & Mighty, Peter D from More Rockers and The Angel called
"Jaz Klash".......top notch drum and bass plus Hammon B3.

Although I've heard some negative comments about the Moving Shadow 100th
release featuring Goldie, Dom and Rob Playford - (two of the three in
the "Special Set" are mediocre) the "Process Mix" and the "Bing There
Mix" are intense!!!! Must buys - from one of England's great labels.

The Reprazent 12" are OK......the Grooverider Jeep mix is the one for
me! Otherwise, the DJ Box Set with Cleveland Watkiss, 4Hero etc....is
pretty crap-ola.....a big disappointment in my opinion. Either Roni
Size is brilliant or he's off point.....hot or cold I guess.

A nice little nugget fell in my lap from Fabrizio at IRMA Records in NY.
It's a 12" from Ghittoni Minella and is called "Derek Jarman Blues".
Chill, down tempo and, best-of-all a contagious drum and bass mix with a
gorgeous Italian vocal singing about an incredible man who died
tragically of AIDS. Anyone else vibe off this record like I did? This
is the shit! Totally infectious.

Squarepusher's new LP is once again totally insane. If Tom Jenkinson
isn't a modern musical genius, I don't know who is. Twisted, sick, and
totally fucked up! More please....

Finally - two "must get" underground hip-hop joints for those that are
adventurous:
Rasco's "The Unassisted" (beats by Fanatik) on Stone's Throw Records -
the second illest beat around....and
The Indelible MCs "The Fire in Which You Burn" on Official Records - the
illest beat around.

Any comments?

peace and good music......

music is universal...

"When you're playing drum you're touching the heart and the brain. That
what move the people. That what move the spirit in the people. Cah the
people cannot move until you touch their spirit, and you wake their
spirit and the spirit wake their body."
