I am surprised that no one has mentioned Groove Collective, considering
Jose is a jazz musician. Although I have criticized them in the past, I
appreciate Groove Collective for their use of *jazz* sensibilities in
acid jazz. As a jazz musician myself, Groove Collective provided a great
bridge from the jazz world to the acid jazz world. I recommend their
first album (can't even remember the title of it. . .but the cover has
the band all hanging out on a taxi cab which has just been in an
accident or something). The 2nd album just sort of lost it, however.

Other good stuff: Medeski, Martin and Wood. Brooklyn Funk Essentials,
United Futures Organization,. . . .
