Well, I was under the impression that they added MTV 2 in order to bring
back the viewers. Lets face it, their shows are always horrible. The
whole network lacks depth. but anyways, the addition of techno/electronic
music is more a money move than anything else (it seems to me). The music
industry needs a new Nirvana bad, and there are absolutely no rock bands
out there doing anything particularly engaging. SO of course techno seems
the way to go, especially since it works so well in Europe. As for who
the "next nirvana" is going to be, if not the whole genre itself, Im
putting my money on Prodigy. They signed with Madonna's record label in
the US, and so far everyone on that label has been the darling of music,
if only for a minute or two. They will be the band to really break techno
into the mainstream, but not the band that will give it any respect. ANy
ideas on who that act will be?
