That's a great combination, Ray Gaskins and Count Basic. If you don't know
who Gaskins is, he's an
American sax player now living in London. I believe he used to play for Roy
Ayers, and he's the one who does the
catchy sax line on BNH's "(Let's All Just) Have A Good Time." I met him in
'95 at the Blue Note in London when they used to have those Wednesday night
jam sessions (Remember those, Simon B.? :)); Gaskins was the bandleader. I
even got a copy of his demo tape, sort of a combination of acid jazz with
poppy 'lite jazz', but still good stuff. Cool guy. Hope to hear more from him.
