Well, I totally understnad how his beats can annoy people. I however love
them. On his first album (Feed me weird things) there was a lot that
rubbed me wrong--the machine gun beats. However on Hard Normal Daddy, I
really liked those beats, for a few reasons: they weren't as frequent, for
one thing, and they were also used more creatively and
intelligently--check the second track to understand what I mean. Then
there's stuff like "Big Loada", which is more or less an excercise on the
drum machine like no one's done! THat one can definetly be overwhelming
if you're adverse to that drum sound. (I do however think he must have
found a better drum machine since his first album, because those beats
just don't seem as grating as the older ones, even though the speed is
still ridiculous.)

On another Squarepusher note, I guess I'll answer my own question from
this time last week. A remix 12" came out yesterday on import called
"Chaos AD: the Ceefax mixes". What he's remixing, I have absolutely no
idea.
I don't really like this 12". It sounds nothing like squarepusher to me.
It's very bleepy, very techno sounding (and I've heard those influences
in his work before but never this ovreboard--but then again that's
squarepusher, overboard). I didn't notice any of the live bass, no crazy
drum patterns either (I only listened to it once, a couple days ago, so
hopefully my memory isn't too bad here).
It was still fast, and still more or less complex and little repeating.
