hey all

couple things I heard over the weekend...

The new DJ Krush, Ki-Oku, is not that good in my estimation. Not for my
tastes at least. Basically straight acid jazz (hip hop/dance beats,
jazzy trumpets), which for me translates into something a little too
smooth. I think many of you on the list will enjoy this album, but as for
me, no dice. SOmeone was telling me that this trumpet player is typically
a free jazz player (and an amazing one at that), so the album was an even
bigger disappointment for him because this could have potentially been
something very experimental, but it just isnt.

I also heard Kool Keith's album "Sex Styles." I like it! Any other rap
group toting around an album that is exclusively sex-related, I would
throw it in the garbage, but somehow, maybe because Kieth is such a freak
in the first place, it didn't bother me here. Really though, lyrics
aside, this is well done album. The music here flows better than Dr
Octogon. (am I the only one that really didn't like the music on Dr.
Octogon? I felt it was too slow, too non-groove, too boring and sometimes
a little too cliched.)
Anyway, it's pretty good.

Both of these albums, I think, are aquired tastes.
