OK, as for the compilations, I would say direct yourself to the Funky
Jams series on Hubbubb Records. Great stuff.
As for Birmingham, the Digbeth Institute used to have a good funk room.
BUT, as for Coventry, you HAVE to check out the Golden Cross pub
upstairs. If you go upstairs its open till 2 am and the music is heavy
funk/acid jazz and retro 60's cheesy organ.
Its free before 10 o clock and 2 quid after.
The funk nights are always packed out every saturday.
