RE: Jungle on this list

I guess it all depends on your definition of acid jazz.(oh no
not this again! submissions for renaming the list anybody? =)) It's
funny, a friend of mine (sound guy who hears my shit all the time) could
not understand why i was saying i was in the midst of a jungle set. He
genuinely could not understand why it was a separate genre (from acid
jazz). I tried to point out the distinct difference in the beat but ....
err maybe he was just drunk. But the point is, jazz step jungle is just
another word for acid jazz pretty much. If you find drum and bass a bit
tedious and boring, it's very possible you haven't been listening to the
right drum and bass. I've met so many people that say they hate drum and
bass and "don't play any of that" but then run up pissing in their pants
when i drop something smooth on them! And as for the human groove...
(what i've always held as MY opinion) the "acid" in the jazz was the
electronic element (effects, loops, samples etc.) and am still quite
confused why (since there are so many damn sub-genres anyway) people use
the word acid jazz to describe live stuff like the greyboy allstars and
also for the bedroom DJ stuff like Kruder and Dormiester or the
Runaways. Hay, Just out of curiosity, what does "higher intellectual
content" consist of? Anyway bro. Stick around. Maybe you'll expand your
musical horizons. This is the place for it.

Sorry. This "meaning of acid jazz" discussion has probably been
rehashed a million times on this list.

peace,
Argo
