one of the main things that has attracted to me to electronic music has
been its composition.

many genre's of electronica are built in what i call "layers".. basically
different beats, rhythmns and whatnot all combined together at different
points in a track. all of this is very carefully orchestrated by the
artists..

some artists achieve a form of complication that is near impossible in
organic music, and even takes immense concentration to fully listen on all
levels/layers (ie Mentallo & the Fixer).

one of the wonderful things about complicated electronica is the choice
available to the listener. what sections to focus into with your hearing?
it allows the listener different options, and almost hence the opportunity
for a different experience with each listening of the track..

however, i do agree that there is a lot of crappy electronica out there,
that i could probably do better than, if one i had the equipment and two i
had a couple of months to lock myself into a room and master it. BUT there
is a ton of electronica out there that i would never be able to approach as
far as composition, content, and pure musical genius...

a few of these masters of electronica:

Coldcut (the beats speak for themselves)
Bill Laswell (this guy has done about everything there is to do)
Delerium (Bill Leeb & Rhys Fulber of Front Line Assembly)
Autechre (masters of the abstrakt electronic beat, no-one, i mean no-one
can compare)
