well i'm sorry you found that a bit aggressive or whatever - it certainly
wasnt meant to be. saying somethings a bit of a generalisation doesnt
sound insulting or too strong to me but anyway...

well i fully understand what youre trying to say but i'd still say the
same thing and that is perhaps you are expecting the wrong thing from
some contemporary electronic music. a lot of music inspired &
influenced by techno & house is obviously dance music, *real* detroit
techno like stuff by derrick may is very influenced by disco and house
and that kind of music is NOT about hummable melodies - the best dance
music, whether its derrick may, brazilian batucada or fela kuti is
about RHYTHM...and sometimes expecting all kinds of music to possess the
same qualities is inappropriate.

techno stuff thats more aimed a home listening can be a bit more
introsp[ective - i guesssitting down by yourself at a computer will
produce different music that a group impro situation will. but it will
have different strengths and qualities and just cos it has a
different sense or scale of melody isnt a weakness at all. you wouldnt say
classical music isnt very good cos it doesnt have a strong beat - would
you?

so if you really want to hear some amazing music check any of the names i
mentioned before - if you havent heard any of that stuff i'm sure it'll be
a bit of an ear opener.

and yeah - a lot of things that are called electronica are pretty lame.

peace!!!
