Brighton, England my friends.

In fact just returned from a long weekend there to my adopted homeland
of East Coast.

If you are ever visiting England please go and spend a few days in this
London-by-Sea. Home of Soul-Jazz-by-Sea records, Across The Tracks
records, Borderline (where you can usually see Bobby Gillespie shuffling
thru the Pink Floyd 45s while you peruse the Blue Note comps); Russ
Dewbury's Jazz Rooms on a Friday and Saturday night; Robert Luis Vibes
Express bi-monthly at the Concorde (sadly about to be knocked down);
Sussex County Cricket Club, BHAFC; some fine clubs and beachfront cafes
and rather tidy Mod gear at Jump the Gun on Bond St.

A certain Mr N Cook has been cooking up something big and beaty down
there in the last 12 months (American listees - see latest Spin for very
informed article on Big Beat Boutique and the Fatboy himself).

If you are staying for a few days, I can recommend the Oriental Hotel.
It opened last October and features the UltraLounge function room where
there is usually a party going on. I myself arranged a little soiree
down there last Friday and even managed to spin a bit of plastic from
3-5 am despite being in a very tired and emotional state. Won't bore you
with playlists because we did that thread 2 weeks ago.

[Sung to the tune of Bright Eyes]:
"...where everyones slept with everyone but there's nowhere to park your
car,
Bri-i-ton"
