I don't know where the nationalistic flavour has come from. I find the US
vs UK stuff a bit pointless.

I would argue, however, that where an artist comes from can be of great
interest. Many scenes grow up around geographical areas. This could be
partly explained by the influence of a strong personality in that area, the
influence of clubs and venues in the area or the fact that the artists just
hang out together.
