dear list: The other items i recieved from dusty groove include(but arenot
limited to) 1) "right tempo easy listening volume one"- this is good. IT is
my second attempt at these (in)famous "foriegn funk comps" . (As you know
some purists like dj Premier Hate them, at least according to
www.worldofbeats.com ).I decided to try them after hearing samples and
reading reviews here.
                                                The first was the Dewolfe
Sampler" (dope) the other was baretta 70 which was ..okay. FfRom this i
could have decided that the german get funk and the italians dont. But i
would have been wrong. luckily I decided to try this .
Lucky for me this comp has
the Riz ortaliani stuff that Portisheads Geoff Namechecked in urb. Im
referring to selections from "confezziones of a...." okay cofessions of a
policeman or something( in Italian). This stuff was good and so was a lot of
the other music from other conductors. Now for the
disses . I didnt have much use for the "Stop and Listen" by dr bob. Mind
you i want breaks to .... recontextualize.. Acid-jazz of recent b=vintage
plus old soul cuts like "heartbeat" by C mayfield didnt do it> I will sell
this at a loss 12+shipping. Also "Jazz Spectrum" by Keb darge
and....forget. Nope Its jazz and not very funky or 70's sounded. not that
some cuts wernt made in the 70's but the style is from an earlier time. the
rythms are latin or 5/4 so i cant use em. 12+shipping write me.
