'TOO PRODUCED' IS ONE WAY TO EXPLAIN COMMERCIAL BUT I THINK WHAT PEOPLE ARE
GETTING AT IS ARTISTS WHO PURPOSEFULLY 'WATERDOWN' THEIR MUSIC TO APPEAL TO A
WIDER AUDIENCE AND SO COMPRIMISING THEIR ORIGINAL STYLE. WHETHER THIS WATERING
DOWN IS FROM RECORD COMPANY PRESSURE TO SELL UNITS OR NOT, I DO NOT KNOW. I HATE
TO SEE ARTISTS KNOCK OUT THE WEAK SECOND, THIRD ALBUMS - BUT SOMEBODY HAS TO PAY
THE BILLS!

It means you've got a better selling record than they do. Ok, not really,
but, it seems to be one source of criticism. I tend to refer to albums as
too 'produced' meaning to slick a sound. But, that is also a rather
ambigious term.
