I can't agree with you more on how great an album Aquemeni is, but altough
it is not sample based or sample reliant, it is chock full of samples.
For example, the intro drum role to that real chill song is "rock dirge"
by Sly Stone, and those back ground hollering notes in Rosa Parks are from
a track on the Superfly Sound track by Curtis Mayfield. There are a bunch
others too.
