Hello all.

I just signed up for the list, and I'm anxious to begin discussing music.
I'm twenty years old and live in Kingwood, TX (north of Houston, it's a
pissant suburb) from where I commute to the University of Houston. I play
guitar, sing baritone, and am receiving instruction on bass guitar and piano
shortly.

What music do I like? Everything except stuff designed to enter the Top 40
(e.g. Brittney Spears, Matchbox 20, and the like), neo-country pop (e.g. The
Dixie Chicks), and other worthless stuff. I have a great tendency towards
Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionist musics, ragtime, swing, bebop,
cool, and fusion jazz, hiphop, big beat and drum'n'bass, the old Madchester
music (e.g. The Stone Roses), sixties psychedelia and mod stuff, and soul of
all kinds. My cd collection ranges from The Pixies to The Beach Boys, and
takes a detour by Gustav Mahler (incredible symphony composer, if you've
never heard him), and winds up somewhere near Jimmy Smith and The Wu Tang
Clan.

I would love to talk about writing and playing music with anyone who lives
around here, and more than that I would love to discuss it with anyone on
the list. Sorry for the novel, but I'm excited that I found such a list!
It's not often you run into ecumenical, open minded people.

cheers,

curry thunder
