Jamiroquai, Incongito ... and Urban Species

Hi all....

In the line of established-acid-jazz-act-new-releases, Urban Species also
have a new one out on Talkin Loud called Blanket. There are only a couple
of tunes on this one that move me on first listen, including the title
track which is pretty nice. I'll have to listen some more before final
judgement, however. The thing that put me off was disappointment at the
collaborations with Terry Callier. I hoped for something significant in
these two tracks, but they were not particularly satisfying ... more just
an inclusion of Callier rather than an interesting blending of their
styles. Oh well.

Satisfying myself instead at the moment with the new Roots album "Things
Fall Apart" (which finally has local release here in Australia and is
excellent ... time for another thread on "Organix" anyone?? ;-)), Chris
Bowden's "Time Capsules" (which I slept on way too long!), and Geri Allen's
"The Gathering".

peace,
K
