tried these out at the w/e to a v.appreciative crowd:

satoshi tommiie "up in flames (satoshi tommiie remix)" - incredible/sony
been waiting for this for a long time. of course, the original was on a
couple of ibeefa comps but this is the mix that does it for me. stripped of
the proggy synth lines, this comes through a lot darker & deeper suiting the
sentiments of kelli ali's haunting vocals. morales provides a percussive
"dub" with sweeping monosynths and creepy reverse reverb on the vocals. pure
black magic that's sure to be massive.

jesse & crabbe vs kardek "i want you" - fiat lux (france)
funked up filter action from those dependable french chaps. bouncy house
beats and choppy samples that could crossover to breakbeat floors. the
slightly more downtempo "f'9 riot squad" is probably rather dangerous with a
breakdown into what sounds like a full on riot scene!

paul jacobs "soulgrabber part four" - stickman (canada)
i've been caning soulgrabber's "hey bryce" so it's about time for another.
again a simple loop minced through some fierce filter treatment. the
flipside is a shuffling jazz number with nice sax samples and guitar licks.
