I would love to meet up with the other acid jazz list people in Chicago
(especially old fans of my radio show :>), but I don't know about this
Takemura gig...The new Takemura album is so noisy, abstract and un-funky
that I don't think I'd dig it. And I don't know how you'd mix those old
great tunes with the new stuff he's doing. The fact that the gig is at Empty
Bottle rather than Smart Bar also makes me think its going to be his new
experimental shit and not the old DJ Takemura that we knew and loved. Please
someone tell me I'm wrong (about the gig, not about the record 'cause I know
I don't like it).

Hi all,

I was flipping through the Pollstar dates for upcoming
shows in Chicago, and I saw this little piece of info;

Nobukazu Takemura at the Empty Bottle(1035 N Western
in Chicago) on 11-19(a Friday night).

I'm hoping I can go to this show, because how often
does he get a chance to play stateside? I'm a big fan
of the 'Child's View' CD, so this would be very cool.
Dirk, have you heard about this show? It was your old
show(Moods & Grooves) that turned me on to acid jazz
and Takemura, so thanks a million for that. Maybe a
few of us listers in Chicago can meet at the show. It
would be cool to break the fourth wall a little bit.

Take Care-----Paul Berger---
