    Anything w/Ntu Troop is fucking excellent-- probably start w/either
    of the Harlem Bush Music albums: _Uhuru_ for "Celestial Blues", or
    the equally excellent _Taifa_. NB-- the CD reissue 2fer is missing
    about 2 minutes of the side-long "Blue" (a really annoying facet of a
    lot of Fantasy/Milestone reissues-- same thing happened to Woody
    Shaw's _Blackstone Legacy_).

    The 3rd & 4th Ntu Troop albums are equally excellent, "Dr. Follow's
    Dance" from _Follow, the Medicine Man_ & "Black Maybe" from _Juju
    Street Songs_ are the ones I think get compiled most.

    There's a reissue gap until around '75 (I really wanna find _I've
    Known Rivers and Other Bodies_ from '73, another supposedly great
    live-in-Montreaux set). The one I've heard from mid-decade, _The
    Shadow Do_, though Mizell-produced, didn't do too much for me. So
    much of the charm of Bartz's rootsy jazzfunk is its unpolished
    nature, so the over-slick stylings really vitiate the proceedings for
    me.

    As for Norman Connors, _Dance of Magic_ & _Dark of Light_ are great;
    haven't heard the two following, _Love from the Sun_ & _Slewfoot_,
    but I understand he really slicked out by the latter half of the
    decade.
