    Not really, it's a phrase sampler, so if you want to sample a horn lick, it will
    let you, but it cannot turn a sample into pitched notes like a normal sampler
    can, meaning, you can't sample a trumpet and play your own trumpet lines.

    Nowadays, though, sample-based synths like the Roland JV/XP/XV series, the Korg
    synths and Alesis synths are convincing enough that you can just use those to do
    pithced instrument sounds and use the MPC for drums, loops and sound effects.
