Previously we were talking about Mano Negra. I just recieved yesterday the
album 'Urban Cuban' by P-18, which is the new band by the former Horn
Section and -I think- electronics from Mano Negra. Except for an awful
attempt at Drum'n'Bass, it is AWESOME. It almost brought tears to my eyes.
Seriously. P-18 mixes electronic dance music --house and hip-hop French
Style-- with Cuban Son, and the results are incredible. Not as Jazzy as
Nyorican Soul --because, after all, Borricuan music is very, very
different from Cuban, and Master at Works' house style is very
different from french House--. The sound is very similar to Mano Negra's
Patchanka minus the Clash-influenced Punk Riffs and Nursery rhyme tunes.
Besides, their singers are much better than Manu Chao, and closer to the
Cuban traditional style of singing. The less
techno tracks reminded me a lot of Colombia's Bloque, on Luaka Bop,
--fromerly known as 'Bloque de Busqueda' on Sonolux Records. I strongly
    recommend this to everyone!
