gender: DudeRancher who loves to travel, ride motorcycles, Militant
vegan/vegetarian, guitarist, intensive cardiovascular workouts to name a
few.
First Exposure to Acid Jazz IMO: Marvin Gaye's "Inner City Blues" makes me
wanna holler. Either early 70's or late 60's. From there is was Lonnie
Liston Smith, Miles,etc.
What threw me over the edge into Acid Jazz bliss and I've been there ever
since was back in the mid 80's. While working at an Organized Crime
controlled record store in the S.E. My manager tossed me a cassette tape of
Kazumi Watanabe's -Mobo I- and tracks 4. "American Short Hair" and 5. "Mobo
2" got me forever hooked. Just imagine the line up here, Kazumi Watanabe on
Guitar, Marcus Miller & Robbie Shakespeare on Bass, Michael Brecker on Sax,
Steve Jordan & Sly Dunbar on drums. It was and still is heaven to hear such
an excellent combo of Reggae and Acid Jazz.
