    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    THE SHOW:
As we begin the new millennium we are witnessing a rebirth of live music
entertainment. A new genre of eclectic, cutting edge artists (i.e.,
D'angelo, Erykah Badu, Angie Stone, etc.) have began to reshape today's
Hip-Hop and R&B from the sounds of material monotony into conscious soul.
Artistic integrity is reborn. Amidst the new voices of this urban music
renaissance hail the soulful-jazzy sounds of Dallas, TX native N'dambi and
the hip-hop poetic soul vibe of Jazz Poets Society from Richmond, VA.

Together these two up-and-coming recording/performance artists have teamed
up to headline the IndieSoul Tour. Organized respectively by Cheeky-i
Productions (N'dambi) and One Soul Entertainment (JPS) the IndieSoul Tour is
a seven city tour created for intimate venues in the following major music
markets: (Richmond, VA 6/30, Washington, DC, 7/1, Philadelphia, PA 7/3 and
New York City 7/4 and 7/7, Baltimore, MD 7/8, Charlotte, NC 7/9, Atlanta, GA
7/10,). Each show will feature celebrity hosts, a notable opener and a
    classic Hip-Hop/Soul DJ.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    THE ARTISTS:
N'dambi and JPS are currently set to release new cd projects this summer and
fall respectively. N'dambi (which means 'most beautiful') will be releasing
the live version of her highly acclaimed debut "Little Lost Girls Blues" on
Aug. 15th. An independent release on her own label Cheeky-i Productions,
"Little Lost Girls Blues captures the essence of the soul-induced scatting
jazz voice that many of us have heard before on Erykah Badu's debut Baduizm
and live album. A kindred spirit to the likes of Sarah Vaughn, Me'Shell
Ndegeocello and Chaka Khan, N'dambi gives the blues a whole new funk.
Numerous magazine and internet articles continue to appear on this 5'9" boho
princess with the soul flow and butta-fly afro. If you want to hear the
future of urban music just listen to N'dambi and her full live band at an
    IndieSoul date near you!

Jazz Poets Society is comprised of the soul-poetic duo of Mamou and Nyaze
and their four piece live band Jim Thorn. An eclectic mix of thought
provoking lyrics (What If Rosa Parks had a car?), headknodding grooves and
thick beats only begins to describe the energy of the JPS sound. A hip-hop
Earth Wind and Fire may be a more fitting description of the former poetry
    collective
turned recording artists. JPS has already released two cd's, studio and
live version albums of their debut project Poets Lounge and are preparing to
release their third LP entitled "Introducing MAYA" (Fall 2000) on 5th
Child/One Soul. JPS has built its reputation with their spontaneous and
emotional live shows having performed with the likes of Wyclef Jean and the
Refugee All Stars, A Tribe Called Quest and The Roots. At the end of the
material age in today's urban music JPS is the genesis of consciousness and
the revolution begins with the IndieSoul Tour. Are you ready?

In the early 1900's with the railroad train being the prime mode of

men, African Americans, to serve as porters for his latest addition to
American luxury transportation - known as the "Pullman Car."

In an era teaming with prejudice and discontent, "CHOO CHOO ME HOME", is the
story of a young farmer who flees his southern home in Mississippi, after a
painful tragedy, to go up north to Chicago for a better life. In doing so,
he finds work, friendship, intrigue, love and lots of excitement!

Written, directed and produced by Alicia Johnson.
Starring: Deidre Ali, Titus Battle, Kim Belcher, Odie Berry, Woody Cook, Ced
Delaney, Dot Davis, Anthony Irons, Edna Turner, Ahmed Obafemi, Roderick
    Woods, Jr. & many others!

almost forgotten, piece of African-American history. And don't miss your
chance to win 2 round trip tickets to New Orleans on Amtrak, 2 Heritage
Festival passes or one of our other fabulous door prizes!
