As with all lists its never easy to pick top 10's, so in the spirit of
fairness I'll list all the artists that I have ever heard, and even sort a
liked, starting with The Best of Sesame Street ;-)
Seriously, for no better reason than it being a bright summers day here in
Dublin and the fact that I'm In work with not much to do, here's my top 10
artists and Albums (This is for the ages):

    1. Iron Maiden (1980 - 1987)
    2. Slayer (1984 - 1990)
    3. Metallica (1984 - 1988)
    4. Curtis Mayfield
    5. The Doors
    6. Dead Kennedy's
    7. Ronny Jordan
    8. Funkadelic/Parliament
    9. Entombed
    10. The Smiths

The list of my fav. albums may seem a little top heavy, metal wise, but
thats only because its the sound I grew up with and have worn down the
needles of many a player spinning these ungodly discs:

    1. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
    2. Slayer - Reign In Blood
    3. Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden
    4. Metallica - ...An Justice for All
    5. Carcass - Symphonies of Sickness
    6. Entombed - Left Hand Path
    7. The Doors - Waiting for the Sun
    8. Curtis Mayfield - SuperFly
    9. Judas Priest - Stained Class
    10. Ronny Jordan - The Antidote

Of the jazzier stuff that I'm listening to over the last six months or so,
an honorable mention (I'm sure respective artists will sleep more soundly
knowing they made it on to my list ;-) goes out to:

Donald Byrd - Street Lady, Stepping into Tomorrow
    Johnny Hammond - Gears/Forever Taurus
    Roy Ayers - Vibesman
James Taylor Quartet - A Few Useful Tips on Living Underground
    Astrud Gilberto - Talking Verve
    Corduroy - Dad Man Cat
    Mother Earth - People Tree

    Willy

He can take you up to paradise, or bring you to your knees
